Purpose
The purpose of this essay is to convey, through close observation and factual investigation, the distinct qualities of an individual. You will “paint” a profile in words to provide an in-depth look at a person from a specific perspective or angle.
Audience
You will determine the audience.
Writing Prompt
Compose a profile of the individual whom you have interviewed and closely observed. The person should be someone of interest (or potential interest) not only to you but also to your audience.
Focus your approach to the subject. Don’t try to provide a life story in three pages: attend to key details, incidents, experiences. But be prepared to let your readers know what your subject looks like and sounds like. The essay should be built on direct quotations from your subject as well as factual observations and other informative details.
Technical Details
1. Length should be three full pages to four full pages long.
2. Set margins at 1” all around.
3. Use 12 point, Times New Roman font.
4. Include single spaced header (name, date, class, assignment)
5. Double space paper.
6. Indent paragraphs.
7. Hand in stapled hard copy at the beginning of class.
